An organization may not be a finalist if they have been one, in any category, in the last three years.
Excellence in Business Award
This award will be given to a for-profit business that has been operating for 10 years or more.
Criteria: The nominee has demonstrated excellence in business operations including marketing, sales, customer service, human resources, financial management, environmental practices, etc.; is clearly viewed by peers as being a leader in business excellence; has demonstrated the best aspects of the entrepreneurial spirit; and has a strong track record of community involvement and support.
Points will be awarded for: business operations (50), industry leadership (30), and social commitment (20)
Excellence in Customer Service Award
The Excellence in Customer Service award will be given to an organization that consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
Criteria: The business is known for its exceptional customer service delivered by knowledgeable and friendly staff who are committed to delivering a high level of customer satisfaction. Innovation in service delivery, conflict resolution, staff training, and use of technology, set this business apart as a leader in customer service.
Points will be awarded for: impact on business operations (40), uniqueness of services offerings (30), and employee training and incentives (30)
Emerging Business Excellence Award
This award will be given to an innovative for-profit business that demonstrates a strong potential for growth and has been operating for 1 to 5 years.
Criteria: The business has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation, and leadership in their industry sector during the first years of operation.
Points will be awarded for: success in business (50), industry leadership (30), and growth potential (20)
Workplace Excellence Award
This award will be given to an organization that, through its innovative human resource practices, provides employees with a positive, healthy and productive workplace.
Criteria: Through the commitment to staff development, work/life balance, fair employment practices and employee communications, the organization provides an exceptional work environment resulting in high employee satisfaction and retention.
Points will be awarded for: leadership in people practice (40), employees attraction/retention (40), and positive work environment (20)
Not-for-Profit Excellence Award
The award recognizes the accomplishments of organizations in the not-for-profit sector which contribute to the economic, social and/or cultural well-being of the greater Charlottetown area.
Criteria: The organization must have an established reputation for delivering a high level of programs and/ or services as well as a track record of efficient and effective management and strong board governance.
Points will be awarded for: contribution to the Great Charlottetown Area (50), innovative programs and/or services (30), and efficient and effective management and governance (20)
People’s Choice for Community Impact Award
The People’s Choice Award recognizes a small locally owned and operated business that has earned an engaged and loyal following and support from the community. This award will be open to nominations with the finalists determined by an external judging panel. The winner will be decided by an online voting process that will open up in early November.
Criteria: The People’s Choice award will be awarded to an organization that is locally owned and operated, engaged with their local customers and contributes to building community through their day-to-day operations.
Points will be awarded for: uses collaborative and strategic partners to strengthen brand and community impact (35), demonstrate influence in the community through innovative projects and initiatives (35), and the organization has earned an engaged and loyal following from the community (30)
Export Excellence Award
The Export Award recognizes a business demonstrating growth in sales of their product and/or service to markets outside of Canada.
Criteria: The award recipient must have been in business for more than three years and exporting for a minimum of two years. The business must have demonstrated the ability to execute an export focused plan through innovative strategies and has the potential for continued export growth.
Points will be awarded for: innovative strategies (40), export development plan (40), and international marketing strategy (20)
