Due Diligence for Managers & Supervisors (3 hours)
This seminar presents a thought-provoking video to demonstrate the importance of giving workers adequate training and supervision, followed by power point presentation, group discussion and activities. Participants will learn about their safety responsibilities and discuss ways to exercise due diligence on the job. Intended for managers and supervisors.
Safety Committee Orientation & Improvement (3 hours)
Is your safety committee just getting started? Has it been running for a while but losing its way? Whether you are a new or seasoned committee member, this seminar will address a committee’s intended purpose and responsibilities under the PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act . Topics covered will include committee duties, limitations, meetings, record maintenance, making recommendations, rules of procedure, and measuring successes. Intended for safety committee members.
Incident Investigation (2 hours)
This seminar will help guide those involved in investigations of workplace incidents and injuries. Participants will receive instruction on the common steps used for a workplace investigation. Given a written scenario, participants will identify contributing factors and make recommendations to help prevent a similar incident.
Workplace Inspections (2 hours)
Learn ways to prepare, inspect, report and follow up on workplace hazards. The workshop uses group and individual activities involving common hazard scenarios and sample forms to guide you along in your next workplace safety inspection.
Strategies for Keeping Young Workers Safe (2 hours)
As an employer, you are aware of your obligation to protect the health and safety of your workers. If those workers include youth, it can be extra challenging to fulfill that obligation. This session offers support to employers and supervisors with youth, and includes ideas for training and supervision, successful strategies for communicating with youth, and youth resources available to PEI employers.
