Canada-U.S. Trade
The Greater Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce continues to advocate for stable, fair trade conditions that protect local jobs and businesses. Our position is aligned with our national and regional network, the Canadian and Atlantic Chambers of Commerce, as we all navigate a fast-changing trade relationship with the United States together.
Trade disruptions cut both ways. Businesses that sell into the U.S. and those that rely on U.S. suppliers and inputs are both feeling the effects. With Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods taking effect September 8, we expect that impact to be felt even more directly here at home. We support efforts to strengthen local and domestic supply chains where possible, while also pressing provincial and federal governments to reduce barriers to trade within Canada and invest in the competitiveness our businesses need to weather this uncertainty.
We’re closely monitoring how the situation is evolving and sending regular updates to our membership through our “From Bianca’s Desk” emails, sent to all member primary emails on file.
