In July, one of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce’s long-standing members reached an incredible milestone: 20 years in business.

Founded on July 26, 2005, Red Island Hospitality Group began with the opening of its flagship restaurant, Hunter’s Ale House, famously “rockin’ the corner” of Kent and Prince Street with great food, great rock, and lots of it. Over the past two decades, what started as a single location has grown into one of Prince Edward Island’s most recognizable and impactful hospitality groups.

The Red Island Hospitality family expanded with the addition of John Brown Richmond Street Grille on Victoria Row, followed by The Factory Downtown, PEI’s only country bar, in 2012. In 2016, the transformation of the Prince and Kent Street intersection into Hunter’s Corner, home to the Charlottetown Beer Garden and Seafood Patio, created a vibrant entertainment destination in the heart of downtown Charlottetown.

In 2018, partners Jeff Sinnott and Chad MacDonald purchased the company, continuing its legacy of excellence and leadership within PEI’s hospitality industry. Under their ownership, Red Island Hospitality Group has earned numerous nominations and awards from organizations including Music PEI, the East Coast Music Association, Downtown Charlottetown Inc., and the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, setting a high bar for service, entertainment, and community engagement.

Beyond their venues, Red Island Hospitality Group has made giving back a cornerstone of their business. Their support spans the arts, sports, and charitable sectors, including local theatre, post-secondary athletics, junior hockey, rugby, and a wide range of Island non-profits. Their annual #barbnog holiday fundraiser continues to make a meaningful impact, supporting Santa’s Angels and The Upper Room Food Bank each Christmas.

The Chamber is proud to celebrate Red Island Hospitality Group on this impressive 20-year milestone and to recognize their lasting contributions to Charlottetown’s downtown core and the broader PEI community. Congratulations on two decades of success, and here’s to many more years ahead!
