We did a Q&A with Andrea Boehner to learn more about the business, their experience as a Chamber member, and what’s ahead.

- What’s your favourite hidden gem on PEI? Depends on what you are interested in, but there is Drifters Tiki Bar in Montague, Kings Castle in Murray River, Ocean Acres in Murray Harbour, and All Points East Campground in North Lake
- What do you love most about running your business? Creating spaces for people and families to make memories that will last a lifetime.
3. How have you seen the Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce grow and evolve during your years as a member? Over the last ten years, I’ve seen the chamber grow from a networking and advocacy group to a strong voice for the local business community that actively supports businesses of all sizes through education, collaboration and community leadership.
4. What’s been one of your biggest challenges, and how did you get through it? Our biggest challenge is recruitment and retention. Being a seasonal niche business, it is hard to find the right people. Through bonuses, profit sharing and creating an overall family-like team environment, we’ve managed to retain the best in the industry.
5. What have you appreciated the most about being a Chamber member over the years? The opportunities include advertising, networking, and staying current on issues and concerns in the business community.
6. What’s something your customers might not know about you or your business? We are a family-owned and operated business and have been installing and servicing pools for 44 years. Our pool installations from 1982 are still up and running, creating fond memories for PEI families and generations to come.
7. What does “community” mean to you, and how do you stay connected? Community to us means feeling connected to the people around us, supporting each other, showing up when it matters and creating a sense of belonging. We stay connected by supporting local businesses, donating to local sports teams and charities, and collaborating with other companies to build that backyard dream come true.
8. What’s a recent win—big or small—that you’re proud of? Every swimming pool that we install is a win. We are very proud of the work that we do, and the service that we continue to provide for our clients. It’s one thing to build a pool and walk away; it’s another to build it and then create a long-lasting relationship to help your client with their pool needs for generations to come. We’re proud of our connections to our clients and our ability to keep making new ones.
9. Who inspires you in your work or life? Our Mother and father – Lowell and Elizabeth Boehner – Lowell started this company back in the 70’s. He saw a niche market and pursued it. His tenacity, hard work, willingness and ability to learn, without YouTube! allowed the company to flourish. The company succeeded because of his kind heart and his ability, aided by his wife (our mother), Elizabeth, to cultivate wonderful client relationships.
10 What are you looking forward to in the next year? We are just so grateful for the opportunity to keep building and servicing pools for islanders. We look forward to that first warm spring day, knowing we will be starting up again to make more backyard dreams come true.
