Jacqueline Sorensen Young is celebrating her 40th year as a music educator and piano teacher in 2026. Having started teaching in September 1986, her passion to teach others is evident through the many students she has taught over a span of four decades. Her commitment as a music educator is to provide high standards and to provide students with functional skills and an appreciation of music in a positive and structured environment through a variety of inspiring and innovative ideas.
Her private students’ successes have also garnered Gold Teacher Medal Certificates on multiple occasions, awarded for having students achieve the highest mark in their level of Royal Conservatory Piano Examinations in the four Atlantic Canadian provinces within a full academic year. Her former students have exemplified success in their chosen fields from the arts and music to business, medicine, journalism, law, etc. and have often credited the importance of their musical training with Jacqueline as being pivotal in their growth and development as people.
