The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to share that our policy resolution, “A Coordinated Approach to Energy Security and Infrastructure Investment in Atlantic Canada,” has been formally approved by the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce. This approval means the policy will now move forward as a priority advocacy item for the Atlantic Chamber, strengthening the collective voice of businesses across the region on energy.
The position highlights the need for greater regional coordination among Atlantic provinces to address shared energy challenges, including rising demand from population growth, electrification, extreme weather, and grid constraints. It calls for a unified Atlantic energy strategy focused on transmission, grid modernization, reliability, and resilience, without creating new regional governance or interfering with existing agreements.
This coordinated approach aims to improve energy security, strengthen applications for federal infrastructure funding, and better support business growth, investment, and competitiveness across Atlantic Canada
Approval of this position demonstrates the collective commitment of chambers and boards of trade to advocate for practical, regionally aligned solutions to one of the most pressing issues facing our businesses and communities.
