Charlottetown, PE (June 23, 2022) – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce has released results today from its Workforce Focus Groups, outlining eight opportunities for action to help build a stronger workforce in the province.
These results will help the Chamber’s advocacy to solve short-term and long-term workforce issues in the province by providing comprehensive insight from businesses themselves.
The focus groups outlined eight opportunities for action, which include:
- Wages
- Changes to Employment Insurance
- Additional training
- HR training and support
- Immigration
- Connecting potential employees with opportunities
- Engaging youth, particularly in skilled trades
- Making PEI an attractive place to relocate
The Chamber conducted the four focus groups (tourism and hospitality, skilled trades, professional services, and HR professionals), comprising of over 40 participants representing over 1,300 employees, in March to hear from representatives in various industries related to the workforce environment in the province.
