Charlottetown, PE (August 9, 2022) – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce has launched its first annual Rising Entrepreneur Award as part of an effort to celebrate and support entrepreneurship in Prince Edward Island.
This award is sponsored by Innovation PEI and was developed to inspired young Islanders 30 and younger to follow entrepreneurship as a career path.
“Young entrepreneurs bring an energy and passion to their businesses in a way that inspires their peers and those around them,” said Chamber President Bill DeBlois. “We are excited to offer this award to recognize our young entrepreneurs on the Island.”
The award reflects the Chamber’s commitment to encourage economic growth on PEI by promoting and supporting entrepreneurship.
“Entrepreneurship is the backbone of our Island communities and ignites our economy,” said Bloyce Thompson, Minister of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture. “We are proud to support this award, which will encourage and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to become the business leaders of tomorrow.”
The award winner will receive a one-time $2,500 cash prize, recognition during Small Business Week, quarterly mentorship meetings with the sponsor for one year, and a one-year complimentary membership with the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. The recipient will be selected by the Chamber’s Rising Entrepreneur Judging Committee, and the award will be presented at the Chamber’s keynote during Small Business Week in October.
