Charlottetown, PE (August 1, 2023) – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce has opened applications for its second annual Rising Entrepreneur Award, sponsored by Innovation PEI, as part of an effort to encourage and inspire Islanders 30 and younger to follow entrepreneurship as a career path.

“We are excited to offer this award again this year. The Rising Entrepreneur Award symbolizes our commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures and uplifts the business leaders of tomorrow and paves the way for a new generation of entrepreneurial excellence,” said Chamber interim-CEO Kim Horrelt.

The award reflects the Chamber’s commitment to encourage economic growth on PEI by promoting and supporting entrepreneurship. The award was originally launched in 2022, taking inspiration from the Chamber’s previous Student Entrepreneur Award.

“PEI has a long tradition of entrepreneurship, and it’s the creativity and innovation of our residents that fosters a healthy and sustainable Island economy,” said Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Trade Gilles Arsenault. “The Rising Entrepreneur Award is a proud partnership we have with the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, and it’s one that shows our commitment to investing in this and future generations of Island entrepreneurs.”

The award winner will receive a one-time $2,500 cash prize, recognition during Small Business Week, quarterly mentorship meetings with the sponsor for one year, and a one-year complimentary membership with the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. The recipient will be selected by the Chamber’s Rising Entrepreneur Judging Committee, with the winner announced and presented at the Chamber’s Business Insight Luncheon during Small Business Week in October.

The deadline for applications is September 1, 2023.
