Charlottetown, PE – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce released the following statement in response to the Speech from the Throne on Thursday, February 25, 2021:
We are pleased to see a number of initiatives in today’s Speech from the Throne that align with our pre-budget recommendations and advocacy agenda that will ultimately aid our province in the recovery from COVID-19. These initiatives include commitments in skills training to strengthen our workforce, investment in innovation such as the cleantech sector, and policies that support our community and economic well-being such as early learning and education.
We are also pleased to see the much-needed commitments to our hardest-hit sectors, most notably in tourism and hospitality and to our airport authority.
We look forward to seeing further details of economy-focused investments and initiatives for PEI when the province’s 2021-22 operating budget is tabled in the Legislative Assembly during this session.
