The Chamber recognizes the need for compromise in this new political era, however, it continues to stress the importance of a competitive business environment for the Island’s 6000 small business owners, who employ tens of thousands of people across PEI.
Currently, PEI’s small business tax is the highest in the region and second highest in the country. A 0.5% reduction will not change this. History has shown that a reduction in the small business tax is an investment – and when it was reduced, provincial revenues grew.
The Chamber looks forward to continuing to work with all parties to support the move to a tax environment where PEI small businesses owners do not have to pay more than their counterparts across Atlantic Canada.
