Charlottetown, PE (Dec. 19, 2023)   The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce (“Chamber”) is pleased to announce COWS as the winner of its 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. COWS will receive the award at the President’s Excellence Awards gala on January 24th.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Provincial Credit Union, is the most prestigious honour in the roster of President’s Excellence Awards, granted to an individual or business that has achieved and maintained an exceptional level of success and entrepreneurial spirit for at least fifteen years. The recipient is selected by the Chamber’s Executive Committee.

“We are pleased to recognize COWS with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their unwavering dedication over the last 40 years,” said Chamber President Kim Griffin. “Their commitment to quality, community, and that unmistakable Island spirit has not only delighted the taste buds of visitors and locals alike, but has also woven itself into the fabric of PEI.”

COWS, which started in 1983, receives this honour following its 40th anniversary. The company has since grown to other locations across Canada, selling its premium handmade ice cream and clothing, including in Halifax, Quebec City, Niagara on the Lank, Banff, and Whistler.

“Forty years ago, the story begins, and it begins at the Cavendish boardwalk. What might seem like small, incremental gains, over forty years, is enormous,” said Chad Heron, CEO of COWS. “The entire COWS team is honoured to be receiving this award and be recognized for our contributions to, not only the business community, but the broader Island community as well.”

This award is among a class of eight others across a range of sectors in the Greater Charlottetown Area, for which there are twenty-five finalists in categories such as Emerging Business Excellence, Not-for-Profit Excellence, and Excellence in Customer Service. The winners from these categories will be announced on the night of the gala

The 2024 President’s Excellence Awards, sponsored by Atlantic Lottery, will take place on Wednesday, January 24th from 5:30PM-9:30PM at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward. Tickets are available online at charlottetownchamber.com  or by phone at 902-628-2000.
