Fresh Media is proud to announce that Melody Dover, President and Creative Director, has been nominated for the 2023 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, presented by Women of Influence.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards program recognizes the country’s leading women entrepreneurs and organizational leaders who have made impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. It is the leading women’s awards program in the nation, elevating this group’s important contributions – from economic growth to social change across sectors and industries.

Now in its 31st year, the program has been an initiative of Women of Influence, an award-winning organization dedicated to advancing the achievements of inspiring women innovators and leaders who are transforming the Canadian business landscape.

“Women in PEI are impacting the world in positive, ground-breaking ways. They are leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, activists, athletes and more. But most of all they are an inspiration and their accomplishments need to be acknowledged and celebrated, which is exactly why I nominated Melody Dover for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards,” says Jeremy MacNevin, Relationship Manager of Commercial Financial Services of RBC Royal Bank Charlottetown. “Melody is a trailblazer and a role model for both established and emerging entrepreneurs not just in PEI, but across the country.”

Fresh Media is an award-winning creative agency based in Charlottetown, PEI. Founded in 2003, Melody opened Fresh Media in her basement apartment with the vision of helping businesses and brands grow to their potential through strategic creative marketing.

Throughout the past 20 years, the combination of hard work and never settling for the easy solution saw Fresh Media grow tremendously. To date, Melody has received numerous national awards and recognition for her impactful marketing campaigns, including Best Social Media in Canada by the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association for PEI Potatoes, Best Integrated Marketing Campaign in Canada by the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association for PEI Burger Love, and Best Social Media Campaign at the Atlantic Interactive Marketing also for PEI Burger Love.

She has been invited to speak at over 30 different conferences, lunch ‘n learns, and forums. In 2018, Melody was invited to be the keynote speaker at both Holland Collage graduation ceremonies.

Proudly, Fresh Media has provided marketing services at reduced fees, plus in-kind services to a large number of not-for-profits. As well, the success of the PEI Burger Love campaign has produced an unprecedented economic impact with over $13.9 million added into the local economy since launching in 2011, plus over $350,000 raised for two local not-for-profits.

“I’m truly humbled and proud to represent Prince Edward Island women entrepreneurs with this nomination for the RBC Award,” said Melody Dover. “When I started Fresh Media, I was the first woman to open a creative firm in over twelve years. Since that time, I’ve witnessed many Island women carve their own entrepreneurial path within my industry as well as many others. It’s wonderful to see so many of us putting in the work to not only succeed, but to inspire other women in business.”

All nominees are required to submit thorough applications, which are reviewed and judged by a panel of prominent business leaders and subject to a due diligence review performed by KPMG; an internationally recognized audit and assurance firm. Finalists will be notified this summer with the winners announced and celebrated in-person at the 31st Annual RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards Gala happening later this year.
