Charlottetown, PE (November 1, 2021) – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce will safely host the 16th annual President’s Excellence Awards, sponsored by Atlantic Lottery, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward. Twenty-six finalists across nine categories will be recognized for their excellence at the Chamber’s biggest night of the year.

“We’re very much looking forward to this opportunity to celebrate our business community,” said Barb Smith, President of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s been another difficult year, filled with new obstacles, so we are excited to recognize the hard work, determination and success that our business community has demonstrated, yet again, in 2021.”

For the third consecutive year, Atlantic Lottery is the title sponsor of the annual event.

Three finalists were selected for each category by an independent panel of judges from over 200 total nominations.

The Emerging Business Excellence Award, sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, is presented to a for-profit business that has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation, and leadership in their industry sector during the first years of operation. The finalists in this category are Flourish Development Group, Lone Oak Brewing Co, and Sunly Energy.

The Excellence in Small Business Award, sponsored by McInnes Cooper, is given to a for-profit business that has been operating for ten years or more, with fewer than 25 full-time employees. Island Hill Farm, Stepscan Technologies Inc., and The Gray Group of Companies are the finalists in this new category.

The Excellence in Business Award, sponsored by Scotiabank, is given to a for-profit business with more than 25 full-time employees that has been operating for ten years or more while demonstrating excellence in all areas of business operations. The 2022 finalists are Fitzpatrick & Company, Chartered Professional Accountants and Meyer Housewares Canada Inc.

The Not-for-Profit Excellence Award, sponsored by iWave, recognizes a not-for-profit organization that contributes to the economic, social, or cultural well-being of the Greater Charlottetown Area and has a track record of efficient and effective management and board governance. The finalists in this category are the Community Foundation of PEI, Hospice PEI, and Special Olympics PEI.

The Excellence in Customer Service Award, co-sponsored by BDO and Cox & Palmer, recognizes an organization that has shown a strong commitment to outstanding customer service, customer loyalty, community involvement and has demonstrated innovation within their sector. The finalists in this category are Fix Auto Charlottetown, Symmetrics Health, and Water Prince Corner Shop.

The Excellence in Collaboration Award, sponsored by the Confederation Centre of the Arts, is awarded to two or more uniquely-owned businesses that display true Island spirit and foster effective relationships to offer alternative or enhanced products and services. At Your Service Creations and Fat Cat Bakery, Famous Peppers Inc., and The Lucky Bean Café are the finalists in this category.

The Innovation Excellence Award, sponsored by BioVectra, recognizes a business that has demonstrated outstanding performance and achievement through innovative and creative approaches, resulting in new or improved programs, products, services or initiatives. The 2022 finalists are BioTraceIT, Canadian Police Knowledge Network, and Deep Roots Distillery.

The Workplace Excellence Award, sponsored by RBC, recognizes an organization that provides employees with a positive, healthy, and productive workplace through innovative human resource practices. Charlottetown Mitsubishi, Nimrods’ Restaurants, and Sekisui Diagnostics PEI are the 2022 finalists.

The People’s Choice for Community Impact Award, sponsored by MRSB Group, recognizes a business that has earned an engaged and loyal following and support from the community. The recipient will be determined through an online vote that is open now until November 5. This year’s finalists are 4S Catering, Stewart Travel Group, and Tremploy.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Provincial Credit Union, recognizes an individual’s accomplishments and entrepreneurial spirit in the community, as selected by the Chamber’s Executive Committee. The 2022 recipient will be announced at a later date.
