The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce announced its Board of Directors for 2018-19 at the Chamber’s 131st Annual General Meeting, held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Delta by Marriott Prince Edward.
Jennifer Evans, General Manager of Ocean 100/Hot 105.5, was sworn in as the Chamber’s 113th President. Evans started her broadcast career after receiving a journalism degree from the University of King’s College in Halifax. She worked in broadcasting in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland before settling in P.E.I. in 1993.
In 2000, she became the marketing manager for the Province of P.E.I.’s economic development agency. Jennifer returned to radio in 2005 assuming the role as general manager of Newcap Radio’s two FM station licenses. She is an active member of the P.E.I. community serving as a board member with the Holland College Foundation Board, P.E.I. Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame, and the Gold Cup Parade. She lives in Sherwood with her husband Lee Drake and their two children Laurel and John.
“I’m proud to serve as Chamber President for the upcoming year and represent close to 1,000 businesses,” said Evans. “As an organization, we listen to the issues that truly matter to business owners, advocate on their behalf, and provide services and opportunities to help businesses continue to grow. Together with my board colleagues, we’ll work hard to ensure that our members are our number one priority.”
Evans is joined on the Chamber Executive by: Dawn Binns, 1st Vice President, Insight Brand & Marketing Studio; Colin Younker, 2nd Vice President, The Spa Total Fitness Centre; Vice President Finance, Doug Ezeard, Arsenault Best Cameron Ellis; and Past President, Rory Francis, PEI BioAlliance.
In addition, ten members of the Board of Directors were appointed: Darcy MacNeill, Earthform Corp.; Jeff Murphy, Murphy’s Pharmacies; Matthew McMillan, MacPherson Roche Smith; Ashlee London, Elanco Canada; Barb Smith, Stewart McKelvey; Mike Cronkhite, Grant Thornton LLP; Frank Chen, McInnes Cooper; Jeff MacKenzie, Confederation M&A; Bill DeBlois, Buns & Things Bakery; and Kim Griffin, Maritime Electric.
