Charlottetown, PE – (September 14, 2022) – The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present Jennifer Ménard-Shand as the keynote speaker for Small Business Week 2022. Her address will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward.

In her presentation, The Reality of the Great Resignation: Employment and Labour Best Practices, Ménard-Shand will share her knowledge and the key to attracting and retaining talent in the wake of the Great Resignation. Her talk will also explore why finding the right talent is not only critical to an organization’s success, but also the right thing to do for your employees.

As an Indigenous French-Canadian entrepreneur, Jennifer Ménard-Shand always dreamed of leading a purpose-driven organization. Today, she lives that dream as the founder and CEO of Staff Shop, an award-winning certified diverse staffing and recruitment firm. Through sharing her inspiring entrepreneurial journey as well as insight into truth and reconciliation in the workplace; equity, diversity, and inclusion; and the labour market, she inspires leaders and their teams to reach their full potential both at home and work.

Ménard-Shand began her career in 2008 at one of Toronto’s most trusted full-service recruitment agencies, The Bagg Group (now TalentWorld). In 2013, she created Bagg @Your Service, the organization’s first hospitality and events division, before purchasing her creation in 2018 and evolving it into Staff Shop. Today, her company services hundreds of clients across North America and deploys thousands of employees across Canada as a full-service staffing and resource firm with eight service lines and a focus on global expansion.

In addition to the keynote address, the Chamber’s 2022 Small Business Week lineup includes a number of other events focused on workforce recovery, powering up for growth, and celebrating small business. On Tuesday, October 18, the Chamber will hold its Business Builder Luncheon featuring guest speakers Jeff Burry, Executive Director, PEI Workforce Innovation Partnership, and IRCC Outreach Officers Hariana Brooks and Cindy-Lynn Fernette. On Thursday, October 20, Detry Carragher, President and Senior Consultant with Carvo Group, will host a virtual Lunch & Learn on recruitment and retention practices for better outcomes. Following the Lunch & Learn, the Chamber will wrap up its weeklong celebration of island entrepreneurship at the Mega Mixer Social on Thursday evening.
