On September 22, our Chamber sent a letter to all four Island Members of Parliament regarding the potential increase to 2024 Employment Insurance premiums.
In the letter, we express our concern about the increase’s impact to employers who are already facing high cost of doing business, and request our MPs to advocate for Cabinet to invoke Section 66.32(1) of the Employment Insurance Act to maintain EI premium rates at the current levels.

The Cabinet has until September 30, 2023, to make any changes to the rate, if in public interest.
The letter was also sent to federal Minister of Employment and Workforce Randy Boissonnault.
