On January 20, 2022, the Chamber sent a letter to Premier Dennis King in regard to transparency, communication, and support surrounding the enhanced public health measures that were implemented on January 18 and in place until at least January 31, 2022.

In the letter, we noted that our members would appreciate and encourage transparency as it relates to decision-making, stronger communications on decisions, and clearer direction to the business community. We also encouraged Premier King and his government to work with federal counterparts to provide further business support to complement what has already been done. Further, we asked that the provincial government also be mindful of the unintended consequences of re-employing Islanders in the health sector through long-term care homes and other such measures.
