Today, the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) sent a letter to Premier King and all 27 MLAs of PEI in response to the Province’s decision to make Monday, September 19, 2022 a statutory holiday for Islanders.

In the letter, we expressed our disappointment with the Province for not reaching out to the Chamber and business community for consultation or consideration on this decision. We noted our members would appreciate and encourage transparency and communication as it relates to decision-making on matters that directly impact businesses, and that PEI is the only province thus far that has marked the day has a statuary holiday, negatively impacting our local businesses with a loss of revenue, productivity, and wages.
