Mary Beth Campbell, co-founder of Luxury Market Consignment, is the recipient of the 2019 Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce Student Entrepreneur Award. Campbell, a full-time Business Administration student at Holland College co-owns Luxury Market Consignment with Kaley MacDonald. The award, sponsored by Air Canada, will be presented at the Chamber’s President’s Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward.

Campbell started with a small space, little budget and few pieces of merchandise but recognized the potential of what is now Luxury Market Consignment, one of the first luxury consignment shops in Charlottetown. Campbell and her business partner, Kaley MacDonald, now have a large store front location in downtown Charlottetown, many business relationships and a growing business.

“As a young businesswoman and student I want to show others that anything in life is possible with hard work and dedication,” says Campbell. “I’m proud to walk down Queen Street and know that I am part of the vibrant business community. I’m honoured to receive this award from the Chamber.”

This award reflects the Chamber’s commitment to spark economic growth in P.E.I. by promoting and encouraging entrepreneurship. The one-time $2,000 award is paired with a one-year complimentary membership from the Chamber and a feature in the Chamber’s Voice of Business magazine.

“Having an entrepreneurial spirit like Mary Beth’s is what makes P.E.I.’s economy thrive. We need more young people like her to take risks and be a role model to other young Island entrepreneurs,” said Jennifer Evans, President of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. “On behalf the Chamber, we congratulate Mary Beth on receiving this award and we wish her continued success.”

Award finalists for the Air Canada Student Entrepreneur Award include Matt Llewellyn, Cutting Edge Property Care; Harmonie Richard, Paraska’s Place; and Evan Hawley, Odyssey Virtual.

The Student Entrepreneur Award is presented each year to a full-time post-secondary student residing in P.E.I., who is also the owner of a business in the province. A panel of judges review applications and interview applicants to determine the recipient each year. The Chamber will be accepting applications for the 2020 Student Entrepreneur award beginning in December 2019.
