Brian and Heather Howatt, founders of Results Marketing and Advertising Inc., have been proud members of the Chamber for over 30 years. Their business, established in 1994, has grown alongside the Island’s evolving economy, which they’ve seen diversify from a few core industries to a more varied and innovative landscape.

Their favourite hidden gem on PEI is the beaches southeast of Eastern PEI. “Mostly undiscovered, peaceful, and perfect for kayaking, clam digging, bonfires, and mackerel fishing,” Heather says. It’s her ideal spot to unwind and rejuvenate.

Over the years, Brian and Heather have seen the Chamber evolve from being event-focused to more advocacy-driven, with a greater emphasis on providing valuable resources for new members and younger entrepreneurs.

For Brian and Heather, the most valuable aspect of Chamber membership has been the networking opportunities. “Having a strong network makes all the difference, and we’ve built relationships that have lasted for years.” For over 20 years, they served as the Chamber’s Agency of Record, appreciating the business and sponsorship opportunities it provided.

A memorable moment in their business journey came during the pandemic when they helped a client in online commerce. Seizing the opportunity, Results Marketing worked with the client to build their brand across Canada. “We leveraged the shock of COVID into the opportunity of a lifetime,”. The client trusted them to invest in advertising when others held back, leading to impressive market share growth in a short time.

Brian and Heather also recognize the Chamber’s role in advocating for local businesses. “When the Chamber speaks with a collective voice, government and industry listens,” they say. This has been crucial on issues like minimum wage, taxation, and COVID response and will continue to be vital as businesses face challenges like trade uncertainty.

As they reflect on PEI’s growth, Brian and Heather believe the Island is more progressive than many realize. “PEI is more than potatoes, fishing, and tourism,” they assert. “PEI has defied the economic odds, and we’re a success story.” They point to PEI’s pioneering healthcare initiatives, such as adopting the CMA patient medical home model, as examples of forward-thinking.

Brian and Heather’s advice to newer businesses on PEI: “You have to like what you do, be good at it, and be ready to weather the storms. Adjust the sails quickly and precisely when needed.” They emphasize always doing what’s right for the client, which builds long-term success.

For relaxation, Heather enjoys outdoor activities like golf and walking their golden retriever. Brian unwinds by spending time outside cutting the grass and shoveling snow

Together, Brian and Heather Howatt have made a lasting impact on PEI’s business community and continue to push for a bright future for local businesses.
