Khalid Shami of Stratford, Co-CEO of NuWelCom, received his Canadian Citizenship on Wednesday, August 18.
“This has been one of the biggest days of my life,” said Shami, minutes after being sworn in by Judge Joan Mahoney during the virtual ceremony.
Shami, one of 20 people to become Canadians that day, feels strongly about his new home.
“Coming to Canada was the best thing that could have happened to me.”
Shami, who has lived in this country for 5 years and six months and has worked with tech companies around the world, is becoming known for his cybersecurity workshops on PEI.
“We must protect our computers, hand-held devices, and data in the same way we secure the doors to our homes.”
