The Prince Edward Island Association for Newcomers to Canada (PEIANC), an immigration settlement agency that was incorporated in 1993, has changed its name. As of Friday, October 1, 2021, the Association will go by its new name, Immigrant & Refugee Services Association Prince Edward Island (IRSA).

Operations, services, and programs at IRSA will continue on as normal through the transition. Although the Association has been referred to casually by the public, staff, and clients as “Newcomers” for many years, Executive Director Craig Mackie says that, “IRSA more clearly reflects our mission and mandate to serve new immigrants to the province. The name will also help Islanders understand who we are, what we do, and who our clients are.”
