Charlottetown, PE (September 8, 2022)– The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce was saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 96, on 8 September 2022.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-serving British monarch, having reigned for 70 years since 1952 and overseeing 15 English Prime Ministers throughout her reign.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has overseen the Commonwealth through perilous and joyous times, and through a long list of historical events including the Cold War, the Aberfan disaster, the formation of the European Union, Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, and more. As a then-Princess, she trained as a mechanic by the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) during WWII.
Her Majesty’s steadfast leadership will be missed.
The Chamber extends deepest condolences to Her Majesty’s family and joins the Commonwealth in mourning.
