The Shed Coffee is pleased to announce the launch of the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre Cafe in the Dominion Building at 97 Queen Street on Monday, July 18th.
“The Shed Coffee and the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre both strive to enable enlightened, community-centred ways of living and learning,” says The Shed Coffee’s owner-operator, Hai Nguyen. “Families, friends, neighbours, and visitors can come together by sharing food and knowledge in the library cafe.”
The new Charlottetown Library Learning Centre offers a modern community space at the core of downtown Charlottetown. The inviting design is tailored to provide unique opportunities for community gatherings and educational programming. With modern, comfortable seating and an expansive patio, the library cafe will be a natural gathering place for working, reading, studying, and creating.
The library cafe will provide specialty coffee options like ristrettos, cappuccinos, egg coffee, phin coffee, and cold brew, all made with beans selected from around the world and roasted in-house every week by Hai- who Reader’s Digest recognized in 2022 as one of Canada’s Best Coffee Roaster.
The Shed Coffee has partnered with Gallants & Co. Island Food to Go, At Your Service Creations & Fat Cat Bakery, and Trueloaf Bakery to offer innovative twists on old Island favourites, designer cookies, specialty confections, and delicious baked goods with rustic and modern appeal.
“We are very excited to be a part of this collaboration to provide our community with locally sourced food at the public library. We think it is going to contribute to the overall experience of the guests,” remarked Christine Murnaghan, Gallants & Co. Island Food to Go.
In April 2022, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure requested Expressions of Interest from prospective library cafe managers. By that time, The Shed Coffee’s first location at 99 Pownal Street had established itself as a community hub, and Hai saw an opportunity to continue to build more business connections and expand.
“To have the chance to help build the community in the Charlottetown Library by offering top-notch coffee and food is a dream come true,” commented Hai. “Our new team is full of coffee experts full of coffee knowledge and experience to heighten the visits of library patrons.”
