The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire a permanent Events and Sponsorship Manager to commence in November 2022.

About the job:

The Events and Sponsorship Manager will work with the CEO and the Chamber team as the lead for the creation and management of Chamber events and the engagement of sponsors. This individual will help achieve the Chamber’s strategic priority around membership support and engagement as the Chamber works to continue to be the business membership organization of choice in the greater Charlottetown area.

The Events and Sponsorship Manager will also have an exceptional opportunity to expand their network and gain valuable experience working with Chamber staff, members and volunteers.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this highly motivated individual will:

  • Coordinate the GCACC annual events calendar for monthly and signature events. This includes logistics for workshops, programming, special events, and communications
  • Oversee suppliers, contractors, exhibitors, and sponsors with assistance from other team members.
    Negotiate and book venues, audiovisual, food and beverage, and other vendors and suppliers
  • Lead the development and administration of the GCACC sponsorship program
  • Assist in the coordination of postevent research and reporting, including survey designs and collection
  • Develop stakeholder/attendee databases and identify strategies for engagement and oversee ticketing
  • Recruit, train, and recognize event volunteers and coordinate with event committees
  • Assist with event programming and scheduling, including speakers and entertainers
  • Collaborate with staff and other volunteers and coordinate with event committees
  • Manage event budgets, including revenue targets and expenses
  • Plan, oversee and execute special projects from ideation through to completion while ensuring projects
    are on time, on budget, on brand, and within scope
  • Other project management and administrative support as required

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess sound judgment, strong oral and communication skills, and superior organizational skills. The individual must be able to work as a part of a team as well as lead large events. They should also be able to work individually and deal well under pressure while facing tight deadlines or last-minute changes to large events.

The candidate must have a degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, tourism and hospitality or a related discipline. Demonstrated equivalencies in experience or otherwise will be considered.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in planning large events and dealing well with stakeholders/clients/members.

Salary and Benefits:

  • $50,000 60,0000 per year, negotiable based on experience
